PLAYER PAYROLL

  $40,453,500

#Contract value not yet publicly announced, but the MLB minimum is a very safe bet.

Figures will be updated as information becomes available.

^These are my Super Two guesses.  Because the information is guarded so closely by the clubs, it's not exactly clear who comprises that top 17% of first-year service time.  Jack Wilson is a confirmed Super Two.

I haven't even tried to guess when players who've yet to debut will reach arbitration.  The earliest that any such player could be a six-year free agent is following the 2010 season.  Again, I'll update this as things progress.

[Bracketed italics] denote team and/or player options  See footnotes for specific figures and conditions.

Notes:
  1. Burnett has a split contract in 2005.  Major league portion pays $321K; minor league portion is $150,639.

  2. Fogg can make $25,000 for 29 starts and $50,000 for 33 starts, plus $25,000 for 180 innings pitched, $40,000 for 190 innings and $60,000 for 200 innings

  3. Meadows gets a $75,000 bonus in 2005 if he appears in 70 games

  4. Pirates hold a $4,000,000 option on Mesa for 2006, with a $500,000 buyout

  5. Redman's contract includes a joint option for 2006.  The club has a $4,950,000 option; if the team declines, Redman has the option to renew at $4,500,000

  6. Torres' base contract in 2005 is $1,000,000, plus a $200,000 signing bonus, plus contract escalators for games finished: $25,000 (30), $35,000 (35), $45,000 (40), $55,000 (45), $65,000 (50) and $75,000 (55)

  7. $50,000 bonus will be paid if Wells throws 210 or more innings
